Description

This is a distinguished Edwardian Stoneware One Pint Tankard with a Sterling Silver top rim. The tankard is in the popular Hunting Ware design with a two tone body and sprigged images of hunting and rural figures. The silver top rim adds a further touch of class.

The tankard was made by Royal Doulton at their famous Lambeth factory in London with the silver rim supplied by Lee & Wigfull and assayed in Sheffield in 1906.

Condition is extremely good, with just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after nearly 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The tankard is of 1 pint capacity. It is 12.2cm / 4.8ins from rim to handle, 8.6cm / 3.4ins in diameter and stands 13.3cm / 5.2ins high. It weighs 537g / 18.9oz.

The underside of the base is stamped with the Royal Doulton mark. The hallmarks on the silver rim are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter o for 1906 and the H W makers' mark for Henry Wigfull of Lee & Wigfull.
