Art Deco Silver Napkin Ring, F.H Adams, 1938

Description
This is a striking Art Deco Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring is triangular with a flat base and odeon style sides with engine turned decoration. It couldn't be more Deco! The cartouche on the front has the letters MEE elegantly engraved within it.The napkin ring was made in Birmingham by silversmiths F.H. Adans & Holman and dates to 1938. Founded by Fred Adams, the firm registered their first mark as F.H. Adams Ltd in Birmingham in 1909. In 1919 the company was renamed Fred H Adams & Co and finally in 1937 as Fred H Adams & Holman. They produced a huge range of silverware from tableware to candlesticks to smoking accessories and dressing table sets and remained in business until around 1960.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each side of the triangle is 4.7cm / 1.8ins long and the base is 2.4cm / 0.94ins deep. It weighs in at a very respectable 33.8g / 1.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the inside of the base, are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter O for 1938 and the F.H.A & H makers' mark for F.H. Adams & Holman.
