Here we have a fine quality Mid-Century Norwegian 830 Silver Serving Set in the Elvesaeter pattern. The set consists of a large spoon and a two pronged fork. This pattern is based on a carved wooden spoon done by Rasmus Elvesaeter in 1825 and was first introduced in silver flatware in 1954.

The serving set was made in Bergen by Brodrene Lohne (Lohne Brothers) and dates to the 1950s/60s. The firm was founded in Bergen, Norway in 1921 by brothers Alf & Johan Lohne. They are best known for their very high quality flatware produced in a variety of patterns, often inspired by Norwegian heritage art. The company was bought by Theodor Olsens in 2011.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the pierced sections of the stems and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The serving fork is 18.8cm / 7.4ins long and the serving spoon is 18.3cm / 7.2ins long. The pair together weigh in at a substantial 154.1g / 5.4oz of solid silver.

Both pieces are fully marked on the undersides of the stems. They are stamped 830S for 830/1000 grade silver, Lo for Brodrene Lohne, NM to show that it is a Norwegian copyright design and the pattern name R. Elvesaeter 1825.
