Buchanan and Laing (Prima Finds)

Description

A striking probably French solid cast brass two section desktop letter or note holder. The design is typical Art Nouveau, a long haired lady with flowing dress and outstretched arms to both sides . It dates to mid twentieth century, it is not an Edwardian nor earlier item, but this does not exclude the item from being a well cast, well modelled and quality example of decorative objects of purpose in a faithful design.

This model does turn up but this is the first we have seen that has a crisp quality sculpture and well defined features. The metal gauge is substantial and the whole piece is solid and without worn fixing, mounts etc.

Overall we consider this piece to be in excellent condition, it has had a light clean (non mechanical and non abrasive).

Size: 6 inches wide and 3 inches deep with a maximum height to top of handle 6.5 inches.
