Description

A fine Japanese heavy bronze or coppered metal plate dating from the late 19th C. Beautiful raised decoration depicting a Japanese gentleman crossing a small bridge, set against a background of mountains, trees, huts, foliage and a soaring bird. He is dressed in period costume carrying a parasol and a basket of fish.

There are 3 Japanese characters to the left of the figure. The plate is also signed on the rear.

The decoration is finely and exquisitely executed, as can be seen when photos are enlarged.
