A fine example of an 18th century George III mahogany bureau that was most likely made in Lancashire. The bureau is unusual in that it has three drawers across the top, the two smaller outside drawers act as rests for the flap. The drawers all have their original brass handles and are oak lined. The interior has a total of ten drawers, two of which are disguised as pillars either side of the central door, and six pigeon holes. The bureau is in it's original condition and made of very good quality mahogany and oak. The bureau writing surface inside the flap is an old replacement. Antique Mahogany Partners desk circa 1910 ReferencerSN438 This a well proportioned antique partners desk with an 'antique finish' green writing surface surrounded by a three inch band of mahogany with a moulded and rounded edge. The desk is made from well figured mahogany with an attractive patina. This very attractive antique desk has three drawers beneath the top on each side. The drawers all have mahogany linings, brass locks, original swan neck handles and chamfered drawer fronts. Each of the pedestals is fitted with three drawers to the front and a cupboard with shelf and paneled door to the reverse. They stand on plinth bases which conceal the castors beneath. The desk is made in three sections with the top separate to the two pedestals for ease of installation. A Beautiful Mahogany Pedestal Desk Recently Restored and in Excellent Condition. This very good quailty early 20th centuary mahogany desk has very good proprtions and particularly well figured mahogany with a most attactive deep colour and well patinated surface. It retains its original black leather writing surface with giltt and blind tooling which is surounded by a band of well figured mahogany with a molded and rounded edge. To either side of the desk top are a pair of concealed writing slides which also retain their original leather writing surface. This type of extening writing surface is typical of French desks of style. The top is fitted with three drawers and each pedestal has three drawers. The drawers are well constructed with ogee moulded fronts, oak linings, working locks, with keys and brass ring pull handles. The pedestals stand on plith bases with small bun feet. There is a fitted vanity board between the pedestals at the rear of the desk. This desk is a very attactive colour and is designed to be free standing being polished all round. As will all pedestal desks it is constructed in three sections for ease of installation. This attractive mahogany desk is a good size and would make a handsome centre peice in a traditional, classic or contemport styled office or study.
