Description

A fine charles II carved oak joined coffer

Of west country design

The three panel lid over an ornate s scroll top rail,the scrolls with serpant heads.

The three panel front with a flower in a cross motive with scrolled edges , an egg and dart border which carries on down the front inside edge of the front legs,an unusual feature and very pleasing to the eye.

Twin plain panel sides and threepanel back.

This coffer is of good quality timber with high end carving

In good condition with the original iron hinges ,the escutcheon is a later replacement and the inside till has been rebuilt .
