Circa 1920, neat sized walnut framed chair by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. The chair is pink with a self coloured fabric. The back has the classic Whytock & Reid down filled feather cushion which is stitched into place, and there is a large cushion in the seat which is removable. The fold over arms are covered in horse hair, with stitched gully at the front. The 2 front legs with their carved knees typical of Whytock & Reid/Lorimer styling and finishing on a stylish circular foot with scoop carving on the front and sitting on a squat turned section. The back legs are rectangular and slightly outswept. The shape of the chair resembles a Whytock & Reid chair known as the Ryland Easy Chair which was produced by them later, but came on a square tapering leg whereas this model has stylish carved front legs.
