Victorian Mahogany-Framed Spoon-Back Armchair
This attractive armchair dates from around 1870. It has a lovely serpentine shape with a wooden frame and an over-upholstered sprung seat, arms and button-back. We believe the wood to be mahogany, although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood type. The upholstery is not original. It has had more modern metal feet fitted to the bottom of the legs.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition, but does have some quite heavy wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some restoration work. There is some scuffing, knockin and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall quite heavily faded. The chair is fairly solid with only some slight movement in the joints. There is some cracking and damage to the wood around the top of the chair. The upholstery is dated and faded and has a few marks and some wear. The lining undeneath the chair is torn.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 92.5cm high, 68cm wide, 87cm deep (to maximums) 32.5cm high to seat. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
