A stunning set of Victorian letter scales in excellent antique condition. As can be seen in the photos, the scales are in two shades of brass which offer a wonderful contrast. The scales are richly engraved with floral images on both the base and the weighing platforms. The scales come with a complete set of the original weights - which many are lacking. The weights range from 2 oz to 1/4 oz and include the more unusual 1/3 and 2/3 oz weights. The base has been recovered with wine red velvet to provide a luxurious surface matching the original material. The base of the scales measure 14.8 X 10.3 cm. The maximum width is 17.2 cm (including the weighing platforms) and the scales stand 10.5 in height.
