We are offering for sale this lovely oil on ply panel by the Italian artist Umberto Zini, who has signed the painting Zini in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts the side entrance to the Palazzo Rezzonico in the Dorsoduro sestiere or district of Venice, with the campanile or bell tower of the Church of San Barnaba in the background. The Palazzo is now Ca' Rezzonico, the Museum of the 18th Century and behind the wall to the left is the garden of the Museum, which is free to visit. Upon the wall to the left of the ornate stone gateway, is a statue of the Virgin Mary or Madonna on a pedestal and under a baldacchino or canopy. There are many such in Venice, but eventually we found the correct one and a close-up photograph of this entrance may be found by searching on google images for Giardino Di Ca' Rezzonico.

Umberto Zini was an Italian painter who was born in Padua on 12th December 1878. He studied under Ettore Tito, Guglielmo Ciardi and Luigi Nono at the Venice Adademy. He painted portraits, mainly in watercolours and scenes of Venice in oils. He began exhibiting at Ca' Pesaro which was a gallery or modern art and took part in other regional exhibitions. He died in Venice on 4th January, 1964.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1/4" ornate gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
