Truly delightful 19th.c. English painting of two children
Truly delightful 19th.c. English painting of two children c.1830. Attractive naive treatment rendered in oil on a sheet of tin showing a lively looking younger child and older sister in an Empire style dress. With a typical English church steeple and trees in the background and an unusual circular dark vignette at the edges implying a scene from memory or fantasy rather than a portrait. Presented a simple 19th.c. rosewood frame with gilt slip. What little damage there is to the paint is away from the faces.
