A wonderful oil on mahogany panel of a puppy playing with a ball. The painting is worked in thick broad brushstrokes with a confidence only a fine artist can manage. The painting is signed: Marie Van Den Eycken who was a member of the famous Belgium family of animal painters of the same name. The painting is mounted in a wonderful quality swept gilt frame and the whole is in very good condition, just the odd bit of wear and mark as one would expect with a Victorian frame. The painting is very slightly small for the frame at the top and bottom, this is hardly visable on viewing. C.1900.
