Spiers Smoothing Plane Plane Spiers Ayr
Dove tailed, coffin shaped plane by Spiers of Ayr. Rosewood infill, brass lever and screw. Curved sides are dove tailed to the sole. Has the early upside down "Spiers Ayr" mark on the lever cap. Plane iron is marked "warranted cast steel Thos Ibbertson & Co". Rear infill is marked with the previous workers name stamp - 'W Dudley'. Some pitting and obvious signs of age and usage.
