A large and striking oil painting on board by German artist Adolf Kapfhamer (sometimes spelt Kapfhammer).

Adolf Kapfhamer (1867-circa 1930), A snowy river landscape with carriage passing, Oil on board, Signed, 28 x 46.5 inches (96cm x 118cm).

Adolf Kaphamer was a German painter who studied at the Städel in Frankfurt and was later a member of the Munich artists' cooperative. He is well known for atmospheric landscapes of the Bavarian Oberland and the Alpine region. From 1911 onwards he often exhibited at the Munich Glass Palace before it was destroyed in a catastrophic fire that also destroyed some 3000 works of art.
