Small Oak Chiming Longcase Clock
A Small 1/4 chiming longcase clock of the late 18th Century style made in 1920's George V period. It has a n arch top hood with a glazed door showing the three polished brass weights and wood rod pendulum. The dial has a Tempus Fugit disc and a silvered chapter ring with brass spandrels. The 8 day movement is Westminster chiming ( Big Ben) and has a strike/silent feature. The movement was made by Urgos in Germany and is numbered 4429.
'The manufacturer was founded in 1920 by Christian Haller, Johannes Jauch, Robert
Papst, Heinrich Rumminger. First registered as Rumminger & Co.
GmbH. In 1923 the associates changed the name to Urgos.
Produced solid stock plates movements, striking Westminster and
other tunes. In 1925 they had 50 employees and by 1936 there
were 140 employees'.
