Small Library Mantle Clock - Leroy , London
This is a very nice and small English mantle/bracket/library antique clock dating circa 1870 of English manufacture and retailed by Leroy and Sons , Bond St London which is only 10 1/4 inches tall.
This famous firm was founded as Leroy & Fils on the Palais Royal in Paris in the 1830s until 1910 . From 1850 it has prestigious London premises on Regent Street then Bond Street where the firm traded as Leroy and Son .
This single fusee chain driven 8 day duration movement is of typical high quality as produced in London at the time and is in perfect working condition .
The movement can be viewed on all sides through the thick bevelled glasses and this design is very often refered to a as a library clock as many gentleman's libraries and studys were furnished with such an item.
The case is made from Mahogany and is decorated with carvings and mouldings making this clock more decorative than the style normally seen.
The finish and colour are very good but , like all items of this age , it has the expected signs of use . It is ready to go straight into the home.
The case has simply been professionally cleaned and waxed .
The 3 1/4 by 4 1/2 inch silvered and well engraved brass dial has very good clarity and is signed by the makers. There is a little discoloration on the dial but it can be resilvered at the buyers request.
I am afraid that my limited photographic skills do not show this clock at its best and a personal viewing is recommended and any professional appraisal is welcomed.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of this antique clock.I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb . I am certain that the buyer will be delighted with their purchase.
The clock is only 10 1/4 inches tall , the widest part of the clock is 7 1/2 inches and it is 5 1/8 inches deep.
If the buy it now price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
