A small, early 19th century Tunbridge Ware print and paint decorated white wood box attributed to George Wise of Tonbridge. The lid bears a circular transfer print of two gentlemen and a lady in Regency dress in front of buildings with a colonnaded walkway - it is a rare view of Chapel Royal, North Street, Brighton. The print is surrounded by a hand-painted garlanded border within a double rectangular border. The decoration is completed by a herring-bone inlaid line around the rim. The lid slides open to reveal its original marbled paper bottom with the same design repeated on the underside of the box.
