Small Devonshire Grandfather Clock
A small mahogany longcase clock by these prolific Devonshire Clockmakers.
The 8 day duration movement striking the hours on a bell and with a 12" square white painted dial with Arabic Numerals and Arabic minutes to the Quarters. Also with seconds and date to the centre and matching brass hands. The corners painted with Seashells and Seaweed.
The small mahogany case has a beautiful colour and features a long trunk door which unusually has an inlaid edge of ebony. The long plain base with a single plinth. The hood has a flat top, plain attached pillars and mahogany capitals.
Note: The Murch family of Clockmakers were prolific makers throughout the 19th century. The plain proportions of the case, which were typically used in the area, fit very well in either a modern or traditional setting.
Height: 6’6”
