Small 18th Century Mahogany Longcase Clock (England)
A well proportioned mahogany longcase clock dating to around 1760. It has an arch top case, with reeded side columns with brass capitals and glazed side windows. The trunk has a long figured mahogany door. The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring, centre and strike silent feature, a subsidiary seconds dial and a date window.It is signed by the maker Moore of Norwich, a well known and regarded maker. It has an 8 day five pillar movement that strikes the hours on a bell.
Thomas Moore was born in 1720 and died in 1763. He has a watch in the Greenwich museum, which was designed to wind both ways, he also has watch in the Ipswich museum
Current Condition
The case is in good original condition, the dial has been restored and the movement has been fully serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months. If you would like a video clip of this antique clock striking please email us.
