Sculptural Ironwork Wall Hanging by Jules Whiston
We are offering for sale this unique sculptural wall hanging ironwork, which can be used internally or on the outside of a building, by the Kentish artist JULES WHISTON. The wall hanging resembles a fantastic fish or microscopic plankton like creature, with a glass eye and a whiplike body, with spines. The head is heat patinated. There is a hanging loop. If used outside, it will gradually rust. It would look very good on a conservatory wall. This would make a very unusual Christmas gift and a great talking point.
JULES WHISTON was raised in Tanzania and worked as an industrial welder, until he was injured in an accident at work. He studied Graphic Art at Kent Institute of Fine Art & Design and gained a BA Hons. Degree.
He worked as an asistant to Sir Anthony Caro in the making of his 'Tower of Discovery', a great steel sculpture commissioned by the Tate Gallery.
He has exhibited widely in Kent, most recently at the Metropole Arts Centre in Folkestone and the Sassoon Gallery in Folkestone. He has also exhibited at the Nausicaa Sea Life Centre in Boulogne and profuced iron work for the 2008 BBC Gardeners World RHS Gold Medal winner for Best Small Gardens by Tracy Foster and Caroline Pollard.
