Lovely late 19th century Russian Icon painted onto a wood panel,c1880. The painting is a well executed depiction of St George slaying the dragon. Despite its age the colours are still vibrant and it has great decorative appeal. There is what appears to be Cyrillic script in red at the top but I cannot make it out as it has rubbed slightly. Overall condition is good, in line with age and use. There is minor surface rubbing / crazing to the paintwork in places, but all very much as you would expect from an old example. To the rear is a simple leather hanging loop which appears to be original to the piece. Overall a very genuine example.
