Robin Smith Oil on Canvas Landscape Fisherman
We are offering for sale this lovely landscape oil on canvas by the Lincolnshire artist Robin Smith. The painting depicts a fisherman standing in the river casting for fish, just below a small weir. The light is streaming through the trees which has been captured by the artist in a masterly fashion. The painting is unsigned, but was purchased from auction with another signed Robin Smith oil, which we are now also listing. Both paintings were framed in identical frames, but due to damage in transit, the other one has been reframed.
Please note, we have now received authentication from the artist, which will be included with the painting.
Robin Smith was born in 1949 in Grimoldby, near Louth in Lincolnshire, where he still lives. His home was very close to an RAF station, which his inspired his interest in aviation from the age of 4.
He joined Rolls Royce as an apprentice draughtsman in 1966. During this time he qualified as a private pilot. In 1971 he left Rolls Royce and joined the Royal Navy which he left in 1978 and Derbyshire Fire Service.
Following an almost fatal accident while on duty, he was forced to retire and became a full time professional artist.
He is a painter of landscapes, trains and aviation subjects, which are his first love. He is a well collected aviation artist around the world. Many of his paintings are available in print form.
The painting is very nicely framed in a 3 1/4" gilt frame and cream slip and is ready to hang.
