This is a superb quality antique Regency mahogany harpist / chellist music chair with an adjustable seat height, circa 1810 - 1830.

This is a superb quality antique Regency mahogany harpist / chellist music chair with an adjustable seat height, circa 1810 - 1830. The chair features an elegant reeded bar back and floral carvings to the frame. In the centre of the back of the chair are vertical brass spindles in the shape of a harpist’s musical instrument this is why this type of chair is called a “Harpist’s chair”. Further down, the chair has a circular seat, which has been freshly upholstered in a top quality wool and cotton tapestry fabric. The outer edge of the seat has been pleated to give a quality finish. The seat is stuffed with the original horsehair making it solid and firm to sit on. The seat can be raised or lowered by rotating the seat on a central wooden threaded screw, which is situated below the seat. The chair base also features a reeded frame. The chair sits on classic Regency splayed legs to the front and rear which are connected by stretchers to give added stabilty. This is a top quality harpist chair and is very functional as it consumes very little space.

The adjustable seat height mechanism is in excellent working condition. There are no marks or damage to the upholstery. This item is free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
