Regency Brighton Pavilion Engraving J. Mitan 1806
This splendid Regency Engraving of large size and in, what appears to be, the original Figured Oak Veneer Frame with an interesting gilt Acorn and Oak Leaf Fillet, was published in London on July 28 1806 by Charles Richards 349 Strand West.
It is entitled To The Kings Most Excellent Majesty Under the Patronage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales - This View of the Pavilion & Steyne at Brighton with the Promenade - is humbly dedicated by His Majesty's most dutiful servant Charles Richards'.
The Picture was 'Etch'd & Engraved by J. Mitan and Aquatinted by J.C. Stadley' from 'A View taken by C.T. Cracklow. The Figures by W.M. Craig'.
The Engraving is in good condition. There is a small tear beneath the top of the right hand arch which is shown in the close-up photograph. None of the original paper appears to be missing. At some time the back board has been replaces.
A scene showing all the vim and vigour of Regency Brighton, even incuding the legendary Martha Gunn, the only figure standing on the Prince's side of the railings other than the Royal Party.

Height: 26.5 inches (67 cm)
Width: 36.5 inches (93 cm)
