RARE Pair of 18th C. Georgian Glass Wedding Salts
A RARE pair of Georgian Glass 'Wedding' Salts dating to c.late 18th or very early 19th century.
We are not experts in these....being fairly rare they not something we see every day, but have been enlightened by a specialist in that era that these would have been given as a gift to a couple on their wedding day, approximately 200 years ago!
Each of the glass salts have a second glass panel on the base with hand-painted portraits of the bride and groom on one side. These were then fused to the base of the salt holders and the portraits then become visible from the top.
Given their approx 200 years of age and use, they do have some chips in the glass, one larger chip on the 'lady' with additional minor chips, and a number of minor chips/nibbles on the 'man'. We have priced these taking the condition into account.
Despite some wear and tear, these are still absolutely delightful items. Their two centuries of history really seem to speak to you as you handle them.
Satisfaction Guarantee & Returns Policy.
Returns are accepted within 7 days. A full refund will be given provided the item is received in the same condition as when sold. Buyer is responsible for return postage/shipping costs, appropriate packaging and insurance.
