Rare Hooded Orkney Chair by D.M. Kirkness
Circa 20th century, rare signed and hooded Orkney chair by D.M. Kirkness. With an oak frame in the traditional style of curled arms, and back made of straw bound together by marram grass. The seat is in marram grass and leads on to square front legs (supported by cross stretchers) and outswept back legs. A similar example can be seen in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
