Rare Art Deco Architectural Salvage Glass Tiles
A Stunning Collection of Vintage Art Deco Clear Glass Tiles
A most unusual find, salvaged from a period 1930's property.
Beautifully designed and created from moulded, clear glass which has a very slight greenish hue when viewed from certain angles.
48 rectangular tiles with a ridged or fluted surface.
18 triangular section tiles.
27 triangular section tiles with pointed or faceted ends.
(There are also 5 small stepped or faceted sections, as shown, however all five of these are demaged but will be included).
This splendid lot has a number of forward uses but I imagine them being implemented in some way as an architectural feature in a c. 1920's - 1940's Art Deco period home, or, used in some other way as a visual or decorative device in any interior.
The run of 48 ridged sections in particular could provide a great fascia to a feature wall, alcove or recess...perhaps implemented in a bathroom or kitchen or used to line a specific place or as a fireplace surround.
With some imagination, something very special and unique could be created.
Approx Dimensions -
The fluted rectangular tiles: 8.5 x 15 cms and 2 cms deep.
The triangular section tiles: 6 x 22.5 cms and 3.7 cms deep.
The triangular section tiles with pointed tips: 4.8 x 25 cms and 2.9 cms deep.
Condition -
Mixed.
The rectangular tiles, on the whole, these are in good condition and display well. Minor surface staining which will clean off. Some with minor chips, fleabites and grazes. A few with more significant loss, such as loss to corners. But on the whole, very good.
The triangular section tiles, at least five of these have noticeable loss to corners and edges.
The triangular section tiles with pointed tips, Generally good to very good, however a few with noticeable loss to the corners or points.
More pictures happily supplied or viewing in person welcomed.
