Pair of Harold Holmes Arts & Crafts Wall Pockets
We have for sale a highly decorative pair of arts and crafts copper and pewter wall pockets by the excellent artisan Harold Holmes.
These heavy grade copper wall pockets are of a planished truncated conical form extending to a lovely curved back. The bodies of the wall pockets are decorated with flowers formed from inlaid pewter and borders of the back and rims of the pockets are decorated with a rope like design formed from alternate pewter and copper detail. The backs of both wall pockets carry the Harold Holmes mark along with Hand made in England. Harold Holmes was an apprentice to Hugh Wallis in the 1920s and produced high quality copper ware incorporating inlaid pewter designs using the technique developed by Hugh Wallis. Harold Holmes died in the 1970s. These wall pockets probably date to somewhere around the 1930s to 1940s.
The wall pockets are approximately 8.75 inches (22.3cm) high and 4.75 inches (12cm) wide. They are both in an excellent condition with no rubbing to the inlaid pewter design.
