This is a small coloured early 18th century map of Switzerland by Pierre Van der Aa, published in Amsterdam in 1713. It appeared in Van der Aa's 'Nouvelle Theatre Du Monde'. There is an attractive cartouche containing a number of heraldic shields in the top right corner with a distance scale below.

Sheet 44 x 34.5 cm
Engraved area 29.5 x 22.5 cm

Condition: The map is in excellent condition with uniform patination, generous margins and a strong plate impression. The number 40 is handwritten in ink in the top left corner and there is some writing in ink on the reverse which from the style suggests an 18th century origin. The writing is not visible from the front.
