superb oak and mahogany longcase / grandfather antique clock by Thomas Metcalfe, Northallerton with 8 day movement, circa 1790.
the hood with swan neck pediment and herringbone inlay detail.
the beautifully decorative face (originally painted by James Wilson of Birmingham, one of the most famous dial painters ) with floral and gilt designs, working date movement and seconds dial.
the herringbone inlaid trunk has a nicely shaped door with mahogany crossbanding and herringbone inlay, the canted corners are inlaid with mahogany, standing on shaped bracket feet.
