Oak Mantle Clock Thwaites & Reed Of London
Wonderful mantel clock having a double fusee movement with balance escapement striking hourly on a gong is housed in an attractive solid oak case. Signed by Thwaites & Reed of London the 7" silver dial with black Roman numerals features Chime & Silent and Rise & Fall for fast & slow speed control and is protected by a brass bezel edge glazed door. Thwaites & Reed has been in continuous manufacture since its foundation and claims to be the oldest clock manufacturing company in the world. Drawings of Thwaites clocks have been seen dating back to 1610. The beautiful colour and graining of the oak is very attractive add the history of the clock maker and this is truly a must have.
