Memento mori red sandstone skull circa 17th - 18th century. Unusual in the fact it has the dished out concave shape on top of the head.
This has to be for libations, the pouring of a liquid And in this case to celebrate the life of the dead.
Unusual piece and originaly from an old south Lincolnshire collection.
Size 17.5cm high x 13cm wide x 14.5 cm depth. Total height on stand 25cm
