Longcase Grandfather Clock Collings Thornbury
A good quality Gloucestershire longcase clock. A well proportioned case with typical Bristol area features at this period. Choice flame mahogany veneers with satinwood and rosewood banded inlays. An arched pediment with inlays and brass capped fluted columns. Chamfered trunk sides. An attractive arched painted dial with a farmers wife to the arch. Date and seconds dials. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Joseph Collings of Thornbury near Bristol is recorded in Dowlers' 'Gloucestershire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1836-1842.
Height 7ft 5 " / 226cms.
