Late 18th Century Scottish School Antique Portrait
Follower of Sir Henry Raeburn (B.1756 - D.1823) - A Late 18th Century Scottish School Antique Portrait of Three Women, Possibly a Mother and her Two Daughters.
A wonderful country house oil on canvas portrait dating back to the late 18th Century and now back from restoration (see the final image of the portrait to see what it looked like when it first came to us and compare this to the first image, now that it has undergone sympathetic cleaning and restoration).
Scottish School - undertaken by an unknown hand but influenced by Sir Henry Raeburn FRSE RA RSA (4 March 1756 – 8 July 1823). He was a Scottish portrait painter and Scotland's first significant portrait painter since the Union to remain based in Scotland. He served as Portrait Painter to King George IV in Scotland.
Depicting a mother and her two daughters. Sitters unknown.
Presented in its original Georgian Rosewood frame.
Condition - Cleaned and retouched. Some surface craqueluer still apparent.
Size - With Frame 53" x 43 3/4" / Without frame 49 1/2" x 40"
