Late 18th Cent Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock

A most attractive longcase clock by Thomas Bates of Market Harborough. He is listed as working there from 1783 to 1835. The case is in lovely figured mahogany with satinwood decoration.
The main feature of this antique clock is its beautifully painted dial, this has some of the best painting I have ever seen on a clock dial. To the dial centre is a beautiful scene of a maiden and a winged angel. To the arch is a similar painting of a seated maiden.
The case is in reasonable unrestored condition but does have the usual shrinkage cracks, marks and knocks associated with age and use however none of these detract from the overall look of the antique clock.
The movement has recently been serviced, is running well and keeping good time.
The overall dimensions are:
215cm (84.5") high
54cm (21") wide
27cm (10.5") deep
Free local delivery and setup (60mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
