Large River Landscape Oil Painting By Bernard Page
LISTED ARTIST BERNARD PAGE Born 1927
Born in Hertfordshire, the progeny of an English Father and Swiss Mother who came from a family of Artists and Engravers.
Having served his time in the Royal Navy,he was trained at the St Martins Art College, moving thence to the Central Art College in London.
Having worked as a Graphic designer for the "Vogue" magazine he took the leap and became a full time artist.
Whilst achieving success (his works are in collections throughout Europe and America), his later life was dogged by ill health and he died relatively young.
This is a beautifully painted large scale landscape oil painting on canvas laid on panel, depicting a winding river through a valley
There is a small punt on the river with a gentleman seen fishing in the calm waters.
The sky adds depth and perspective and the detail seen in the painted foliage of the trees is very much in the manner of the early 19th century period.
An accomplished artist whose distinct style has made him a desirable artist to collect in todays decorative market.
His works have been sold in well respected galleries throughout the country and as he died in 1988,are sadly missed by many today.
