An imposing third quarter 19th century French cast brass antique clock garniture
W. Masse, Paris, circa 1870
Having a 6.5-inch white-enamelled convex dial with blue Roman hours and black Arabic minutes, inscribed "Wm. MASSE / PARIS / 24 RUE JACOB, the two-train movement, outside countwheel-striking the half hours on a bell, numbered 739, the monumental rococo revival case cast with foliage framing a quatrefoil-pierced diaperwork grille, rocaille base and scroll feet, 73cm, (28.5") high,the pair of nine-branch (ten-light) candelabra having two tiers of four over five foliate scroll branches, each with bulbous socket and detachable nozzle, on a double-strand foliate stem and spreading scroll base, 76cm, (30") high, (3)
