Oil on panel horse portrait of 'Victor' Champion at Olympia 1928-1929 by L.Mallender. The painting is a typically posed horse portrait with simple landscape setting. The artist has signed and dated the work 1931 as well as the title. L.Mallender was active between 1938 and 1973 and painted many horse subjects including racing at Doncaster his earlier work is his best. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The painting is framed in a very worn Victorian ebonised frame which had been overpainted and stripped back the antique worn look suites the painting very well. The whole is in ready to hang condition.
