A rare example of a French carriage antique clock retailed in America by JC Caldwell & Co., Philadelphia. A fine quality 'gorge' case with large glass top aperture. An enamel dial with subsidiary alarm dial. An 8-day duration striking mechanism to the 1/2 hours and hours on a gong. Push button repeating. The firm in Philadelphia was started in 1839 and still exists today. Circa 1875. Height 6 " / 15 cm (size with handle down) Width 4 " / 10cm
