Georgian Welsh fruitwood leather desk armchair
This is as nice a Georgian armchair as you will see. The chair dates to around 1800 and may well be Welsh in origin. The chair is very unusually made of fruit wood, probably apple or pear. The splat is simple and elegant. It has shaped arms and stands on square legs. Look at the wonderful wear on the front stretcher. Feet have been resting on that for two hundred years. The joints are pegged and solid.
The chair has been upholstered in leather. The leather is in wonderful condition. It would have cost a small fortune to have had this chair upholstered and covered in leather but it is a chair that warrants the attention.
The chair is in good order. It is solid with no wobble. One old repair where the arm meets the riser on the back - see photo - minor.
This is a very good chair. It is strong and substantial and could be used as a desk chair but it would seem a pity to hide such a good chair behind a desk. The fruitwood chair is rather beautiful.
The chair is 35 inches high at the back and the seat is 18 inches high and it is 21 inches from outside arm to outside arm.
