A fine quality Georgian moon phase longcase clock. A well proportioned case with typical Bristol features at this period. Choice flame mahogany veneers with satinwood banded inlays. An arched pediment with inlays and Corinthium capped fluted columns. Chamfered trunk sides. An early example of a painted dial with raised gilt corners. Date and seconds dials with lunar moon phases to the arch with a sailing frigate. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Edward Powell of Bristol is well documented in AJ Moores 'Clockmakers of Bristol' book. He worked at the Exchange from 1792-1825.
