Georgian Chinoiserie Verge Bracket Clock
A very rare Georgian chinoiserie bracket antique clock with pull repeat by H Thomas c1770. Possibly Henry Thomas, London
These Chinoiserie painted bracket clock are quite rare and have often received restoration in the past, this clock however was sourced from Northern Spain and as can be seen is in a most wonderful original un restored condition. As can be expected from these delicately painted antique clocks, it takes a very long time for them to look the way this clock does and I have simply cleaned the case VERY carefully to remove dust and dirt. The glass was carefully removed and cleaned off the clock to ensure that no chemical agents came into contact.
The beautifully engraved double fusee verge ( crownwheel) escapement movement has five knopped pillars and features a pull repeat mechanism and mock pendulum. I have personally overhauled the clock and it comes with a full three year guarantee for your peace of mind.
The original silvered dial was very dirty but complete and I have carefully cleaned the dial to reveal the original silvering. I thought it would be better to have the dial this way with its slight fading in places than to re-silver it. The dial featuring a "strike/Silence" lever to the arch, mock pendulum aperture and date ring to the 6 o'clock position.
