George III Mahogany Demi-Lune Fold Over Tea Table
An elegantly simple George III mahogany demi-lune tea table c1800. Solid figured mahogany one-piece fold-over top with narrow kingwood crossband border. Table-top edges with mahogany crossbands and box lines above an apron with figured mahogany panels framed with further box lines. Square tapered legs with box stringing terminating in brass square cup casters. Rear legs open on rule joints to support the opened top. Hinged top opens to reveal a figured mahogany surface with narrow kingwood crossband and box-line border. Leg tops and gates with baize pads to protect the opened top. Aged to a gorgeous mellow colour. Sympathetically restored to a high standard and retaining its original finish. The table is 76 cm in height, its top when folded measuring 91 cm in width and 45.5 cm depth (91 cm diameter when opened).
This tea table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Original finish retained. Historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture.
