A highly decorative French Japy Freres slate & malachite mantel antique clock. This quality piece features an eight day mechanical striking movement which has been fully serviced and is in full working condition. The strike mechanism is on a bell on the hour and half hour. The dial is white enamel with black Roman numerals and surrounded by a brass hinged bezel holding the glass. The case is intricately carved and highlighted with gilding throughout. It also has fine sections of deep green malachite inset into the black slate. circa 1880 JW-23
