Fine inlaid Mahogany fusee bracket clock - Edinburgh bracket clock scottish mahogany %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a very fine and impressive English bracket / mantle antique clock clock of the very finest quality made circa 1810 which is in the most wonderful condition which was made by father and son James and William Howden who worked from Hunter square , Edinburgh. Interestingly it was later retailed by the famous jewelers Mackay and Chisholm , from the same City who had their business name painted on the dial.
The substantial shoulder plated double fusee movemenof 8 day duration is beautifully made and strikes the hours on a bell. The back plate has edge engraving and the makers name in a cartouche. Please note the quality of the pendulum and its engraving. This movement has been expertly restored by Overton Clocks of Chesterfield who always provide outstanding workmanship.
I particularly like the 7 inch painted dial with the engraved and pierced fret and the engraved sight ring. The gilded hands are finely made.
The mahogany veneers used to make the case are as good as I have ever seen and the colour is quite exceptional as is the finish. All the fine brass inlay is present.
As can be seen from the images this clock is in outstanding condition throughout and is ready to be displayed in the home.
This clock is 18 1/2 inches tall including the flambou finial. The width is 11 1/2 inches and the depth 7.
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
