English Longcase Regulator by T. Cooke & Sons
The substantial 8 day movement is set on a heavy, brass bracket mounted on the backboard, with shouldered plates united by four massive pillars screwed front and back. The four wheel train has maintaining power, wheels of six crossings throughout and high count pinions, terminating in a dead beat escapement, the escape wheel being screwed to the collet. The escapement has a large steel crutch to the temperature compensated mercurial pendulum suspended from a brass bracket to the backboard and reading against a silvered beat scale, the small weight being carried on a six spoke pulley. The exquisitely proportioned, diminutive case is of fine flame mahogany with an arched top, long glazed door with foliate carving and a tall base above the stepped plinth. The ten inch, silvered and engraved dial has a central minute hand and subsidiary dials with seconds above and a twenty four hour dial below, being signed T. COOKE & SONS 31 SOUTHAMPTON ST. STRAND LONDON.
