Elegant 8-day Scottish Mahogany clock by D Steven
This is a really elegant longcase clock whose Regency design is heavily influenced by London tastes of that period. Beautiful mahogany veneered case of excellent proportions and only 210cm tall (including finial). Bold 13in painted dial with blued steel hands.
8 day movement, striking the hours on a bell.
Wind once a week with a key through the dial.
13" painted dial with subsidiary date and seconds dials.
Dims 209.5 cm tall with the finial. (202.4cm without the finial. 194cm without the pediment).
Max width 47.5cm
Trunk width 36.2cm
Max depth 23cm
The dial has gently restored retaining the original off-white ground. A few small repairs were completed to the case with the french polish revived. Movement stripped, cleaned and overhauled.
Sold with a warranty where practical due to distance.
We are very certain that the antique clock is 'unmarried' - ie all the principle parts started life together.
We are aware that pediment (on the top of the hood) may not be to everyone's tastes, but it is the correct form for the region. If it was a deal breaker, it could be removed sensitively and stored inside the case. The clock would then follow the 'London' form.
