This is a superb watercolour of a toddler building with bricks, with a puppy looking on. It is signed in the shadow behind the child's leg. The colour is superb.
Eileen Alice Soper (1905- 1990 ) was a painter and etcher, who studied under her father George Soper. She exhibited from 1921- 1930. She had an address at Harmer Green, Welwyn, Herts. She exhibited widely including the Royal Academy. She was born in 1905. Her etchings of children's pastimes are very sought after. She was a very successful illustrator of children's books,including Enid Blyton, and also designed figures of children for the Royal Worcester factory.
