Edwardian Cut Glass Perfume Bottle / Silver Collar
This is a very nice quality Edwardian Cut Glass Perfume Bottle with a long neck surmounted by a hallmarked Sterling Silver collar. The bulbous lower part of the bottle is predominantly diamond cut with fan shape cuts around the base. The lower part of the neck is slice cut and the upper part is diamond cut.
The Sterling Silver collar shows that the perfume bottle was made in Birmingham by Henry Williamson Ltd and dates to 1903. Founded around 1894, Henry Williamson Ltd were manufacturing silversmiths in Birmingham and had a London showroom in Farringdon Road. They remained in business up until 1927.
Condition is good with no chips or cracks in the glass of the bottle and just a very small nibble out of the glass on the top of the stopper. As is often the case, the thin silver collar has a couple of tiny dings in it but overall condition is very good. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bottle stands 16.2cm / 6.5ins tall and is 6.2cm / 2.4ins in diameter at its widest point. It weighs 228.8g / 8.07oz.
The hallmarks on the silver collar are a little rubbed but still easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter d for 1903 and the H.W.Ld makers' mark for Henry Williamson Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
